Representing CSA’s multidisciplinary team, Jahzeel Ortiz Vélez, BSChE, MECE, Water Engineering Technician; Samuel Rivera, PhD, Water Resources Engineer; and Hans X. At 10:00 a.m., Jahzeel Ortiz Vélez will present on identifying potential sources of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (#PFAS) in the Gurabo Water Treatment Plant watershed in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. This session will provide actionable insights into managing emerging contaminants, protecting local water resources, and ensuring regulatory compliance—critical topics for utilities and municipalities seeking comprehensive water quality solutions.
Later, at 3:30 p.m., Samuel Rivera and Hans X. Figueroa Sweet will explore the integration of hydroinformatics tools in water infrastructure planning and design. Their presentation will demonstrate how advanced analytics, digital modeling, and data-driven strategies can enhance decision-making, optimize project delivery, and increase the resilience of water systems.
